This course has been designed to provide participants with a basic knowledge of health and safety training in the workplace and to assist in complying with the requirements of the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005. The responsibilities of the employer and employee under current health and safety legislation are outlined together with the purpose and content of the company safety statement.
The course, which is relevant to all workplaces, explores the role of the Health and Safety Authority and analyses reported workplace accidents and injuries. Common workplace hazards are introduced, and suitable control measures discussed, in order to promote an increased level of awareness when dealing with everyday workplace situations.
This training course, which is divided into five units, is delivered online and takes approximately 90 minutes to complete.

Please note you will have online access to complete your course for 14 days only from the date of your enrolment. 
Once completed you will receive your certificate via email. 
Upon completion or after this 14 day period, you will no longer have access to the modules.


Who is this Course for?
The course is suitable for employees of all levels who require a basic knowledge of the legal requirements and working practices necessary to ensure a safe working environment.

Course Aim
The aim of the training is to provide learners with the knowledge, skills and competence to comply with the law, work in a safe and appropriate manner and to maintain good health and safety practices.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • List the benefits of health and safety procedures in the workplace
  • Identify the legal responsibilities of the employer and the employee
  • State the functions of the safety statement
  • Recognise common workplace hazards
  • Describe methods of controlling workplace hazards

Unit 3: Workplace Hazards

Unit 4: Controlling Hazards Part 1

  • Manual handling
  • Slips, trips and falls

Unit 5: Controlling Hazards Part 2

  • Chemical safety
  • Workplace equipment
  • Moving traffic
  • Safe working environment


Assessment and Certification
On completion of the course students are required to complete an end of course Quiz consisting of 20 multiple choice style questions. You will have 2 attempts to complete the Quiz and must achieve 80% in this assessment in order to achieve your certification.
